Objective

Compile and run your first C program, and understand the journey from source code to terminal output.

Theory & concepts

A C program begins its life as plain text in a .c file. The compiler translates it into machine instructions, and the linker attaches the standard library functions the program uses. Only then can the operating system execute it.

Instructions

1Open the editor on the canvas below and make sure the starter code is present.
2Click Run and observe the output on the console panel.
3Change the message to your own name and run it again.
4Introduce a missing semicolon and observe the compiler error.
5Fix the error and confirm the program runs again.
